Jennifer
Mitchell, MSPT- Owner
Jennifer is a 1990 graduate of Greely High school in Cumberland, Maine. She received her Bachelor of Science, and Master of Sciences, Physical Therapy degree from Springfield College, in Springfield, Massachusetts in 1995. Since that time, she has focused her career on outpatient orthopedics, sports medicine, spinal rehabilitation, and lower extremity biomechanical assessments, with a special interest in the treatment of runners. Jennifer also utilizes a diverse set of manual therapy skills with the treatment
of spinal dysfunction and general soft tissue injuries.
Before returning to Maine in 2003, Jennifer practiced in one of the largest out patient sports medicine clinics in central Massachusetts. She advanced her education and clinical skills, taking more than 20 advanced manual therapy continuing education courses. She also was able to share in her physical therapy knowledge and expertise, and teaching coursework at several central Massachusetts colleges.
Jennifer's interest in sports medicine stems from a lifetime of sporting activities, including being a high school and collegiate tennis
stand -out, as well as a former award winning equestrian competitor and trainer thru high school, college and beyond. She currently enjoys hiking in the White Mountains of New Hampshire and Acadia National Park, running, alpine skiing
and power yoga. She enjoys many of these activities with her husband, daughter Sofia and their yellow lab, Cadi.
At Atlantic Physical Therapy, Jennifer provides all of her patients with her focused personal attention. She strives to see that each patient achieves their personal physical therapy goals, and incorporates into those goals a sense of personal accomplishment and an increase in their well being. |

Jill
Newell, PTA, LMT
Jill Newell, a Wells
native, is a graduate of the Physical Therapy assistant Program from
Endicott
College
in
Beverly
,
MA
. For the past 12 years Jill
has been providing Physical Therapy services in outpatient orthopedic
clinics where she works with a wide spectrum of orthopedic injuries and
conditions. While she also has
experience in acute care and long-term care settings, Jill finds the
orthopedic setting an excellent match for her skills, and enjoys helping
her patients reach their Physical Therapy goals.
In the Fall of 2006, Jill pursued a passion, and began working with
Special Needs children providing much needed Physical Therapy care in a
school-based environment. Jill
thoroughly enjoys the time that she spends improving the functional needs
of children and feels energized as a result.
Jill’s love of hand’s on therapy grew her interest in healing
modalities and she added licensed Massage Therapist to her list of skills.
In her time away for the clinic, Jill enjoys
stand up paddle boarding along the
Maine
coast, as well as performing yoga while on her paddle board.
She seeks out adventure, traveling 2 years ago to
Costa Rica
to learn to surf. In the
winter months, Jill can be spotted in the mountains snowshoeing and alpine
skiing.
At Atlantic Physical Therapy, Jill strives to
provide each patient with a positive and educational Physical Therapy
experience where her patient’s full health is considered.
She aims to ensure that patients of Atlantic Physical therapy will
walk away with an improved quality of life, and skills that will enable
them to maintain healthy and active lifestyles. |

Stephanie
Holmes, DPT
Stephanie
Holmes received her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from the
University
of
New England
in 2007. Since then she has
worked in orthopedic settings where she has helped clients overcome a wide
variety of ailments and return to functioning normally. Stephanie
has continued to impressively augment her education with over 20
professional development courses including Integrative Manual Therapy,
Myofascial Release Techniques, Strain/Counter Strain, Cranialsacral
Therapy, Kinesio Taping, and Postural Restoration.
Stephanie
traveled and worked in
Connecticut
before returning to
Maine
accepting a position at Atlantic Physical Therapy.
At Atlantic Physical Therapy her treatment philosophy and
dedication to outstanding patient care were a perfect match.
Stephanie believes in educating clients about their specific
conditions so they may participate developing a comprehensive treatment
plan based on the individual needs of that client.
Stephanie looks to treat clients as a whole and searches beyond the
site of pain for causative factors that may lead to dysfunction.
Stephanie also enjoys reading, hiking, and yoga in her
spare time. She lives on the
midcoast
of
Maine
, where she and her husband are avid gardeners.
Stephanie looks forward to serving the therapy needs in the

for years to come.

Laura
Southard, DPT
Laura
received her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from the
University
of
Pittsburgh
in 2006. Since that time she has worked as a physical therapist on the
West Coast, including
Oregon
and
Washington
, where her focus has been out patient orthopedics and sports medicine.
Laura has continued her growth as a therapist, taking advanced manual
therapy courses including Muscle Energy Techniques, Strain/Counter Strain,
and Mulligan Concept Mobilization. She also has completed advanced
training in Kinesio Taping, Sportsmetrics, and speed, agility and
quickness training of the athlete.
Prior to becoming a skilled
physical therapist, Laura competed in Division I college athletics,
playing soccer for
Big
East
powerhouse
University
of
Pittsburgh
. She continued her passion for soccer after college, coaching varsity
girls high school soccer in
Vancouver
,
Washington
. Laura continues to promote a healthy lifestyle here in
Maine
, playing soccer, running and spending active time outdoors with her
husband, young son, and two dogs.
At
Atlantic Physical 'Iherapy, Laura believes in utilizing the combination of
functional exercise with manual therapy, and designing personalized
treatment plans unique to each individual patient. She emphasizes patient
education, injury prevention and proactive treatment so that her patients
are able to achieve their physical therapy goals and return to their
chosen activity.
